Neck stretches are like candy to me — when I find one that eases my muscles with just the right motion, it’s a treat I plan to keep in my back pocket in times of need. Adam Fehr, PT, DPT, CSCS, offered a handy way to stretch your neck at the base of your skull to help alleviate neck pain and tension headaches.

Do the following:

  1. Make a double chin.
  2. To deepen the stretch, take one hand and push back on your jaw.
  3. To deepen the stretch even more, place your other hand on the back of your head, then pull forward and down.

For me, just making the double chin and drawing my head down eased some discomfort I had from slouching and straining at my laptop every day. I also felt a wonderfully deep stretch down my spine when moving through all three parts, so I suggest following along with the instructions to intensify the move.

Watch Dr. Fehr demonstrate this in the TikTok above, and try it out for yourself. I’m happily adding this one to my jar of goodies!
