Oatmeal Berry Smoothie Bowl

This mixed berry smoothie bowl with oats is the perfect combination for a sweet and hearty breakfast. The cooked oatmeal makes it extra creamy and adds extra fiber. I used frozen strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries, but you can use any combination of berries that you like. Smoothie Bowl with Berries and Bananas

Are smoothie bowls healthy?

Yes, smoothie bowls are generally healthy, but it does depend on what’s in them! The main thing is to watch your portion sizes, sugar and the fat content. This smoothie bowl has oats, bananas, berries, and milk and comes in under 200 calories per serving. I usually eat this with eggs or cottage cheese on the side for extra protein. You can also add a scoop of protein powder if you wish. No need to add sugar, the fruit sweetens it perfectly as is.

Oatmeal Berry Smoothie Bowl Toppings

I love to put toppings on my smoothie bowls. They’re a great way to add texture and switch up the flavor. Below are some of my favorite topping ideas. If you have any other ideas, let me know in the comments!

  • Fresh fruit: banana, blueberries, raspberries, sliced strawberries
  • Seeds: hemp, chia, or flax seeds
  • Nuts: slivered almonds, chopped pecans
  • Nut butter: melted peanut or almond butter
  • Texture: shredded coconut, granola

Meal Prep Tips

I always keep ripe bananas on hand in the freezer for making smoothies. After they ripen, I slice them up and label the bags with “bananas” and the date. When I’m ready for a smoothie, I just pop them in the blender.

This smoothie bowl recipe starts with cooked oats. For meal prep, you can cook a batch of oatmeal and refrigerate it for up to five days.
