Twerk It Out With This 10-Minute Holiday Dance Cardio Session

Fitness

Dancer and choreographer Kaleila Jordan will have you sweating in this quick and festive 10-minute dance session, combining holiday-themed hip-hop moves with high-intensity interval training. Throughout each of the choreographed segments, she alternates between slower movements, like body rolls and lunges, before jumping into faster hops and kicks. Her full-body program is short and sweet, designed to fire up your heart rate while engaging the core, thighs, and upper body.

If you’re trying to get a workout in while staying in the holiday spirit, you’ve come to the right place. You’ll start with an active warmup, swaying your hips and making slow circles with your chest. From there, Jordan makes sure to activate the lower body, diving into lateral lunges, jumping air squats, and high kicks. You’ll take a short break with some latin-inspired footwork before moving onto the upper body, stretching your arms to the sky and turning your attention toward Santa and his reindeer (as Jordan says).

Merging hip-hop with the holidays, don’t be surprised if the workout includes a festive twerk or two. You’ll also get some practice changing levels, grooving to the beat, and crumping with windmill arms. As fun as Jordan’s choreography is, you might be surprised how challenging the full 10 minutes can be. “I’m not trying to kill you, I’m just trying to give you a good workout,” she promises.
